The area in the far west of the district of St. Pauli is characterized today by different uses. The buildings are partly under monument protection or have a special usage history, e.g. the music clubs "Grünspan" with a listed mural and "Indra" and a former fish smokehouse. The planning area also houses the St. Pauli printing works and a single-storey disused underground car park whose roof area is being used by the temporary urban gardening project "Gartendeck". It is planned to renovate the heritage-protected existing buildings. Today's small-scale business assets including the two music clubs will be secured in the course of the overall planning at the site. The overall concept includes integrating the previously only temporarily approved "garden deck" on the roof of the commercial building in the long term. Start of construction work is scheduled for 2019.
