What are personal data?
The concept of personal data is regulated by the German Data Protection Act. It defines personal data as indicators of personal or factual circumstances of a particular or determinable natural person. This includes, for example, your citizenship, your address, your telephone number, or your date of birth.
Principle of anonymous processing
Unless otherwise indicated in the following sections, no personal data are collected, processed, or used in any way when you are using our website. By keeping your anonymity, some pieces of information will, however, be transmitted when you visit our website, i.e. the type of web browser used to access our site, the website from which access to our site was requested, the name of the file accessed, the date, the time of the query, the amount of data transferred, the access status (file transfer, file not found). This information is analyzed by us anonymously for statistics and is exclusively used to improve the attractiveness, content, and functionality of our website.
Collection, processing and transfer of personal data
When using the offer, we collect, store and use the following data:
- anonymous statistics, revealing which offers and offer categories are clicked, when and how often (so-called click statistics);
- rental and purchase prices of object categories by district and district for market statistics;
- user location by geolocation API to collect the local origin of queries. For this purpose, the IP address of a query is matched with a corresponding database, with the result of the check being stored. The IP address will not be stored.
- The data entered by a registered user (i.e. name, address, title, title, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address) are stored and used for the duration of the registration, as far as it is required by the services demanded by the user. Deleting the registration will erase the corresponding data. Likewise, the request for deletion of all data will terminate the registration.
In addition, we will only collect personal data when they are being provided by your, for instance, in case of contacting us. Subsequent processing is only effected in regard to the purposes for the data were collected. A transfer of your data to third parties will not take place, unless we are legally obliged, a data transfer should be necessary to carry out the offer, or to following a prior consent, in which you expressly agreed the transfer of your data.
You can register with us and create a new customer account. Registration is voluntary, but may be a prerequisite for taking advantage of our offer.
As someone looking for properties, you will receive a confirmation mail once you registered to verify your e-mail address. By clicking the activation link in the e-mail, your access will be activated. As a provider of real estate, you also will receive a confirmation link via e-mail after entering the required data. After clicking on the activation link, you will receive a personal call from HIW's real estate service within 24 hours in order to verify your registration. A further e-mail informs you about the successful activation of your account.
When logging in, key data (i.e. name, first name, company, e-mail address) are stored in the HDB database. When visiting us again, this will allow you to log in with your user name and password and to manage your listings. There will be no further use of your data.
Right of Revocation

Integration of third-party services and content
This website integrates third-party content, such as maps from Geoportal.de. This always entails that the providers of these contents (hereinafter referred to as "third-party providers") perceive the users’ IP address. Without the IP address, they cannot send their content to the user's browser. The IP address is therefore required for the display of these contents. We only make use of such content, whose respective providers use the IP address only for the delivery of the content. However, we cannot be held liable if a third party uses the IP address for, e.g., statistical purposes. Since the alignment with Google pursued by the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Information Freedom based of the decision of the Düsseldorf Circle on the data protection-compliant design of analytical methods for measuring the range of Internet offers, a data protection-compliant and complaint-free use of Google Analytics has been made possible under certain circumstances. We comply with these rules. Thus, we would like to point out that Google Analytics has been extended by the code "gat._anonymizeIp ();" to ensure an anonymous detection of IP addresses (so-called IP masking).
